After Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie now also Keanu Reeves? Supposedly, the action star, who made the comeback with “John Wick”, is talking for a role in “The Eternals”. Fans have been wanting to see Reeves in a Marvel movie for a long time … Keanu Reeves was known as a jerky teenager Ted in “Bill & Ted’s Crazy Journey Through Time” (1989), who became a top-paying action star in “Speed” (1994) and “Matrix” (1999), and then disappeared – and came back in the late 40’s as a cool killer in “John Wick”. Two sequels followed, including “John Wick: Chapter 3” recently, and number four is scheduled for 2021. Before, Reeves could go under the Marvel stars. Jeremy Conrad of MCU Cosmic claims that Keanu Reeves is looking at an unknown role in “The Eternals,” a coming Marvel blockbuster from Avengers: Endgame, 20,000 years before “Avengers” & Co. Conrad stresses that no contracts have yet been signed, but he has heard the info from a reliable source. The credibility of Conrad is controversial. However, the Reeves rumor sounds plausible, as the actor appears to have been on Marvel’s wish list for some time (he was supposedly intended as Doctor Strange and in “Captain Marvel” for the part of the soldier leader, then played by Jude Law). MATCHING ROLL FOR REEVES? Keanu Reeves said he has no desire for contracts that oblige him to return in further films – so far, he may have objected to signing a Marvel contract. As you know, some of the MCU performers also have to go outside their main series, because everything should be connected to everything else. However, since “The Eternals” plays so long before the other films, Reeves would not have to worry about having to drop by in “Black Widow”, “Avengers 5” or “Guardians 3”, the post “Endgame” movies. What we know so far about “The Eternals” sounds a bit shabby and, unlike the “Guardians Of The Galaxy” movies with their space setting, should be quite different from the other MCU adventures. The eponymous Eternals are beings who lived on Earth 20,000 years ago – after having emerged from experiments of the Space Gods Celestials. The Eternals are almost immortal and indestructible – and that’s a good thing, as they are at war with another creature created by the Celestials, the Deviants. While the Eternals look like humans from the outside, the Deviants have a grotesque look. By the way, Thanos is a descendant of the Eternals and Deviants. Chloé Zhao is the director behind “The Eternals”. Typically for MCU projects, she became known with acclaimed, much lower-priced films (including the sensitive rodeo-western “The Rider”) before being left on the Marvel machine and soon with stars like Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden (“Game Of Thrones “,” The Bodyguard “)” Eternals “is spinning. A launch date is not yet official – but like “Black Widow” and “Shang-Chi”, this Marvel movie is one of those that will come sooner rather than later. We’re typing on November 2020.
