One will still be allowed to change. After Nicki Minaj has thought about her upcoming appearance in Saudi Arabia, she rows back and says the concert. The country should understand the basket as a political statement.
Actually Nicki Minaj can not say anything about anyone and yet this time she seems to have been open to criticism: Minaj has canceled her appearance at the Jeddah World Fest on July 18th in Saudi Arabia. A few days ago, after the human rights organization Human Rights Foundation asked the singer to blow off the planned festival gig, Minaj is now showing understanding.
“After careful consideration, I decided not to stick to my scheduled concert at the Jeddah World Fest,” Minaj said in a statement. Although she would love to present her show to fans in Saudi Arabia, she can not.
For women’s rights and freedom of expression
She had learned about the political situation in the country and came to the conclusion that her non-appearance could significantly more purpose, said the 36-year-old. “I want to clarify my support for women’s rights, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression,” quotes “The Hollywood Reporter” from the statement.
After the organizers of the music festival Minaj had announced as headliner, many voices were loud. Some objected that Minaj’s permissive nature would by no means match the country’s ultra-conservative views. The others wanted to prevent the artist from supporting the homophobic and misogynistic politics with their planned appearance. They seem to have done that now. The concert was originally scheduled to take place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, the country’s second largest stadium.
