Batgirl Movie Reportedly Isnai t a Priority For Warner Bros.
After the abrupt departure of Joss Whedon, Batgirl is apparently no longer a priority Warner Bros.
Whedonai s involvement was announced in March 2017, with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator speaking excitedly about what drew him to the DC Comics heroine. However, he announced last week that he had exited the project, which was only recently rumored as part of a next wave of DC films.
Citing unnamed sources, TheWrap reports Warner Bros. has no imminent plans to find a replacement for Whedon, which means Batgirl has been placed on the development back-burner. Apparently, it was always the studioai s plan to focus on the core members of the Justice League, like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern (wherever he is) before branching out into movies starring lesser-known heroes and villains.
The news is only the latest setback for the DC Extended Universe. While Wonder Woman 2 is a certainty and Flashpoint seems to be back on track, there are big question marks hanging over the likes of Gotham City Sirens, The Batman and the Joker origin movie. Chris McKay is still working on a Nightwing script, but what about rumored projects like Deathstroke or Injustice League?
